Simon Ekpa is a Nigerian-Finnish lawyer, political activist, and former athlete, born on March 21, 1985, in Ohaukwu, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He is known for his pro-Biafra separatist activities and his leadership in calling for the independence of Biafra from Nigeria. Ekpa became prominent when he took over as the lead broadcaster for Radio Biafra after the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). His controversial sit-at-home orders led to violence and unrest in southeastern Nigeria.
Ekpa has lived in Finland since 2007 and has a background in law, holding degrees from Prifysgol Aberystwyth University and ABMS Switzerland. He is also involved in Finnish politics as a member of the National Coalition Party and has worked with Finnish military reserves. In addition to his activism, Ekpa owns a law firm in Finland specializing in immigration services. He is married to a Finnish woman and they have children together
