Eckomas Mwengi Mutuse is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kibwezi West in Makueni County, Kenya, representing the Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party. Mutuse was elected in 2022, succeeding Patrick Musimba. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master of Laws (LL.B and LL.M) from the University of Nairobi and was admitted to the bar in 2018.
Before entering politics, he worked in various capacities, including serving as the Chief of Staff for the County Government of Machakos from 2013 to 2022. He has also worked as a Communication Officer in the Cabinet Office and has been involved with Maendeleo Resource Trust. Mutuse is a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and was honored with the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW).
Mutuse has gained significant attention in Kenya’s political arena, notably for initiating an impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in October 2024.
